Alethea is a creative performance artist and educator with training from a number of reputable institutions. Alethea graduated from WAAPA with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts in 2004. In 2005 she graduated with a Diploma of Secondary Education majoring in Drama from Edith Cowan University Mt Lawley. During her years as a teacher she discovered a true passion for Commedia dell'arte and in 2009 was invited to train with one of the great Commedia Masters, Antonio Fava. While working as an English teacher in Italy Alethea trained with Gennadi Bogdanov who is the Master and heir to Meyerhold's Biomechanics training. Upon her return to Perth in 2010, she founded her own theatre company IntotheMask Theatre that is dedicated to providing exciting drama experiences for students in junior, middle and senior school as well as educators in Western Australia. As well as directing, producing and performing as part of IntotheMask Theatre Ensemble for festivals within the Perth theatre scene, Alethea has also founded The Drama Club, youth drama classes for children aged 6-16yrs. She has also worked as a tutor for the Secondary Education at Edith Cowan University. You can connect with her on Linkdin.
Shane McMullan: Teacher/Performer/Director (pictured above)
Shane is a creative performance artist and educator from Perth Western Australia. Shane has been involved in the performing arts for over ten years. Shane is a qualified high school drama teacher, with experience at Willetton SHS and John Curtin College of The Arts. He has also spent time earning a diploma in film and television, which has given him experience in front of, and behind, the camera. Shane's theatre ambitions are to explore the use of technology in live performance, playing with projections, silhouette and live video feeds. He also is a Commedia dell'arte Specialist, having studied with Antonio Fava in Reggio Emilia Italy. His love of mask making was inspired in Italy and now hand crafts leather masks, and slapsticks as part of our inventory. He has been part of IntotheMask Theatre since 2011 and performed and wrote in multiple commedia dell'arte shows for schools such as Una Lettera d'amore, Pinocchio (Fremantle Festival 2012 and school appearances), and wrote, directed and performed in Protection v. Infection (Fringe World 2013), This Show does not include LIVE NUDE GIRLS (Fringe World 2014), A Midsummer Knight's Dream...Whaat!? (Fringe World 2015), What Goes Up (Fringe 2016) Yellow Belly (Fringe 2017). Shane is our main tutor and workshop leader for our commedia dell' arte workshops.

Kate has always valued learning, development and the mind - leading her to pursue a degree in psychology. Throughout her degree she began taking part in varying forms of performance. She has performed in and choreographed numerous musicals, dramatic plays and film; along with other technical aspects of theatre. She has been lucky enough to gain experience as a lighting and sound designer and operator, which she believes thoroughly enhances an all-angled understanding of the stage. A recently discovered passion for teaching smoothly combines the creative and developmental aspects of her experience; helping kids to develop useful frameworks for life.
Lauren is a Theatre Arts student at Curtin University who has a love of both theatre and children. In the past few years she has gained teaching experience working at Expression Drama Studio where she taught a variety of different age groups from year 3’s all the way up to year 10’s. As well as having gained lots of experience in vocal work through both preparing other students for the Trinity Guildhall Speech and Drama Examinations and sitting the exams herself as a high school student, Lauren is extremely passionate about bringing lots of movement into the classroom to help students become more comfortable and confident in their bodies. Lauren’s work as a teacher as well as a children’s entertainer with Parties Kids Remember have taught her how to engage the imaginations of children and encourage creative thinking.

Hermione Gehle’s passion for the theatre developed from a very early age and by 1994 was teaching after school drama for the Mosman Park Council, WA. At the end of 1999 she graduated from the Actors College of Theatre and Television and continued to work as an actor in Sydney and America on stage, television and film for the next ten years. In 2001 Hermione again taught drama, directing teenagers for Mad Cow Theatre Company and in the following year co-founded Newtown Actors Factory including directing, teaching and writing curriculum for the first year adult beginners’ course. Upon returning to WA, Hermione graduated from a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts in 2011 before embarking on a Masters by Research degree in Performing Arts, Directing Stream at WAAPA in 2012, completing with the highest grade achievable in March 2015.
